How to convert MP4 to MP3

Add an MP4 with sound
Add your local MP4 to the queue. Play the original once to check that the sound you need is present. Keep the original file as your video copy.
Choose MP3 audio
Select MP3 as the output. You are extracting the audio from the source, so the output will not contain a video track. Choose an audio bitrate in the output settings.
Convert and listen to the result
In Output settings, scroll down to Save to and use Browse... to choose the output folder. Click Save settings, return to the main window and click Convert. Open the new MP3 and listen near the beginning and end.

Choose the MP3 result you need
Audio only
MP3 is useful when you want the sound from a video recording for listening. It does not preserve the picture, subtitles or a video menu.
Choose the bitrate
MP3 settings offer 128, 160, 192, 256 and 320 kbps. The default is 192 kbps. A larger bitrate may use more storage; it cannot add detail missing from the original audio.
Several recordings
Put several videos in the queue and keep Join files off when you need separate MP3 files. Review each item's output settings before starting the batch.
Work with local files
Use a video saved on your PC. There is no website upload step for local conversion, and your source file remains available for another attempt.
Keep the source
The MP3 is a listening copy. Keep the MP4 if you might need its picture, higher-quality audio, or another output format later.
Check for audio first
If the source has no audible audio, conversion will not reconstruct it. Test playback before changing bitrate or retrying the output.

Why is my MP3 silent after conversion?
Play the source first to check that it has audible audio. Then check the selected output format and the new MP3 in another player. An MP4 with no audio track cannot produce the original sound.
Can I convert several videos to separate MP3 files?
Add the videos to the queue, choose MP3 and keep Join files off for separate outputs. Check the settings shown on each item before converting. With joining off, the sources remain separate jobs.
